We investigated headwear and costume worn in different times and cultures, including theatre costume. We used this as a starting point for designing and making a piece of headwear for a character in a story, using a range of textiles and other materials.

We explored ideas about headwear; we collected materials and visual and other information to help us to develop our work; we used materials and processes to communicate ideas and meanings in a piece of headwear; we combined and organised shape, form, colour and texture to match our intentions; we compared and commented on ideas, methods and approaches in each others’ work, we related these to the context of our work; we adapted and improved our work to realise our intentions.
