Unit 4B Take a seat

We explored the design of chairs. We discussed what chairs tell us about everyday life and the way people rest, eat and relate to each other. We looked at examples of designs in the past and in other cultures as inspiration for developing our own imaginative designs for a chair for a particular character or occasion.

We collected visual and other information; we explored how visual qualities can be organised and combined for different purposes and communicated our ideas about a chair; we experimented with materials and techniques to construct a model chair; we identified similarities and differences in each others’ work; we adapted and improved our own work according to its purpose.
