Junior Leadership Team
We have a very active Junior Leadership Team who are involved in all aspects of life here at Town Field Primary! Mr Dutt & Miss D'Rozario work with our children, helping them make important decisions about school and opportunities for our children.
At Town Field, we believe that our children have the right to have their voices heard. In order to be successful – both during their time at school and beyond – it is important that they have the opportunity to share their ideas and opinions on matters that directly affect them. Through working alongside our children, we hope to enhance our school environment by making it a safe and special place for everyone to learn and achieve their full potential.
Town Field’s Junior Leadership Team play an instrumental role in the management of the school. These children work in partnership with staff on a number of different projects and events so that they are active participants in the day-to-day running of the school. Recent projects have included:
- Developing Town Field as an Artsmark school
We have started our journey to become an Artsmark school. This award will recognise and celebrate the successes of our children in relation to the Arts. The Junior Leadership Team discussed with members of staff how Town Field currently promotes the Arts and ways that we can develop this even further.
- Interviewing prospective teachers and members of support staff
The children generated their own questions and conducted their own interviews to support with the recruitment process of a number of roles within school.
- Setting up our Eco Council
Our children are committed to preserving the environment and are constantly thinking of different ways to make our school more environmentally friendly.
- The Shoe-box appeal
We supported this project by donating and packaging gifts which were then sent to disadvantaged children across Europe.
- Attending the Primary Young Voice Summit
Two members of our Junior Leadership Team were invited to attend this year’s pupil voice summit at Yorkshire Wildlife Park and discussed what life is like for children in Doncaster. During the session, they suggested ways to help make Doncaster a better place for its children.
- Setting up an anti-bullying campaign
Town Field is a bullying-free zone and our children are committed to ensuring that everyone is treated with respect. During anti-bullying week, the Junior Leadership Team led assemblies for the whole school and worked with all members of the school community to raise awareness around this issue.
- Meeting with key individuals such as Rosie Winterton
The Junior Leadership Team have been fortunate enough to meet a number of important individuals to share their views. We recently met with local MP, Rosie Winterton, to explain to her why Town Field is such a special place to be.
- Working with teachers to improve the school library
Town Field have recently renovated the school library to help encourage our children to read! The Junior Leadership Team were consulted on this and made suggestions about how to make our library more appealing for the whole school community.
